Jingqi received a B.S. degree in life science at Liaoning University in China. After earning his M.S. degree in bioengineering at Tianjin University, he worked as a research assistant at Tianjin Institute of Industrial Biotechnology, Chinese Academy of Sciences for one year. In 2017, he moved to the Netherlands to pursue his Ph.D. research with Prof. Oscar Kuipers at University of Groningen where he investigated subcellular localization and dynamic assembly of class I lanthipeptide biosynthesis complex. In the van der Donk lab, he works on the mechanism of the LanBTC complex as well as RiPPs from Streptomyces.
