Jeff grew up in Vancouver, Canada and received his B.S. from the University of British Columbia in 2019 where he double majored in Biochemistry and Biology. He completed his M.S. in 2022 with Prof. Eliana Gonzales-Vigil at the University of Toronto where he studied the substrate specificity of 3-ketoacyl-CoA synthases in plant cuticular wax biosynthesis. In the van der Donk lab, he is currently investigating the mechanism of multinuclear non-heme iron dependent oxidative enzymes (MNIOs).
